Video Camera Necktie

Check out this awesome video camera spy necktie!  It’s not too terribly stupid looking - looks like something you might buy at Mervyn’s or Belk.

The tie has a tiny pinhole camera in the pattern and can record video at a 352 x 288 resolution at 12 frames per second!

It comes with 2 GB of memory built in and even has a USB port right on the inside of the tie, so you can transfer video straight to your laptop.

(available at Brando)

Wild Sex Increases Fertility

Published by thegreenninja under Science Edit This

wild sexWell, I’m screwed.

According to The Guardian, a new sex study shows that wilder, more energetic sex leads to a more than 50% increase in sperm count, making conception a lot easier.

Let me make this known now.  I do not want any more kids. My son is 17 years old and wonderful, amazing and unique.  I couldn’t ask for a better kid.  I’m done. Finished. Kaput.

I do, however, have a lot of great sex.  My husband once said that if everyone had sex like us, there would be world peace.

And I agree.

Now I have to worry that our great sex life makes us more likely to get pregnant.  Oh well.

Some things are worth the risk.

Virtual Laser Keyboard

I want one of these so badly that I can taste it.

I have wanted a laser keyboard since the first time I saw the movie Hackers way back in the day.  I would put aside the money to buy one now, except that I only use my laptop.  I don’t even have a desktop PC anymore.

However,  while looking over the specs of this keyboard today, I realized that it has bluetooth capability.  This means that, yes, I can hook it up to my beloved blackberry. Imagine whipping that thing out and projecting your keyboard to write a text message! Bad-ass!

You would have to carry it around in a purse though, if you wanted to use it with your cell phone.  Time to buy that large black pleather bag I’ve had my eye on.

This has proved to be a very expensive post. Money mouth

Crazy Transparent Fish

Published by thegreenninja under Science Edit This

What if you were scuba diving and you saw this thing coming at you!?

Pretty freaking awesome, if you ask me.

This beautiful fish is called a Pacific Barreleye fish and is found off of (surprise!) California’s central coast.

The National Geographic compares his head to the cockpit of a fighter plane and I agree.

I can look at this thing and just imagine tiny little aliens (a la MIB) driving it around behind the eyeballs!

Yay for the guy that actually caught one of these alive and double yay to the person who photographed it.  I am a huge fan of unusual fish and this one is amazing.

Also, it’s only 6 inches long!

The beady parts in front are not actually eyes, but are little noses.  The eyes are underneath those big green dome things  and they pivot like binoculars.

“HEY YOU GUYS!!” .. It’s The Electric Company!

Published by thegreenninja under Articles, Science Edit This

Growing up in the 70’s, my life was shaped quite a bit by PBS.  We didn’t have a gazillion channels to choose from and the only time we got to watch cartoons was on Saturday mornings.  We also didn’t have the science channel, discovery or even the history channel.  So if I was interested in anything science related I only had two options: 321 Contact and The Electric Company.

I credit those two shows, along with Monty Python’s Flying Circus for making me who I am today. (In my teen years, I learned to enjoy Nova while I was falling asleep on the couch on Sunday nights.) You can imagine how excited I was to hear that PBS is bringing back The Electric Company! Although I’m quite sure it will be nothing like it was in the good old days, I’m willing to give it a shot.

BTW, I also credit this show, as well as Sesame Street for showing me black, whites, hispanics, etc. who were all friends.  I live in the deep south.  This was a new concept for me.  ANYWAY, I’m glad it’s coming back and I hope it’s not nausiating.  Maybe I should stick to watching the old ones on youtube so that I’m not disappointed.

Remember this? I love it!

OMG Pwnies

pwniesThink Geek just launched a ton of new stuff, including this awesome OMG Pwnies shirt. We got the new catalog in with all the stuff we ordered each other for Christmas this year and found out that they have even launched a line of Geek Baby Products!

They even have teeny tiny little star wars costumes for babies! How can you resist that?  And, of course, the classic “Come to the Dark Side, We Have Cookies” in new kids sizes.

Geektastic! I’m in heaven.
