Balloon Boy Drama

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

The only thing that I hate about this whole mess is that it hates on the scientific community.  Just because someone is into science, or UFO’s for that matter, does not make them an idiot. I wish the press would get back to talking about Kanye West’s glasses and off this crap.

No Kinky Sex Over Sixty?

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

sexy old ladyMassachusetts House Bill 1668 is a proposed amendment to the state’s child pornography law that would make it a serious crime to photograph with “lascivious intent” a person over the age of 60 or a person with a disability who has been declared mentally incompetent.

At first, this law sounds like a great idea, but consider this:

According to this law, even older ladies and gentlemen (including spouses) who consent to photographing each other “in the act” would be at risk to get 10 years in the slammer or a $10,000.00 fine.

I’m all about trying to protect children and the elderly, but this bill needs to be modified a bit before it is enacted.  If a couple has lived into their 60’s and is still having an active, freaky sex life, I certainly have no problem with  them being able to take some dirty photos of each other without government interference.

Top Ten Benefits of Bluetooth Technology

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

Some of you may know much about Bluetooth, so I decided to post a little about it today. Below, are 10 benefits and reasons to use Bluetooth technology.

1.  Wireless
As you probably already know, there are many benefits and advantages to using wireless devices.  Along with improving safety as a result of eliminating wires you don’t need, wireless also offers you plenty of other advantages.  When traveling with your laptop  or other wireless devices, you’ll no longer have to
worry about bringing connection cables.

2.  Bluetooth is actually inexpensive.

The technology of Bluetooth is cheap for companies to implement, which results in lower costs for the company.  These savings are then passed from the company on to you.

3.  Bluetooth is automatic.
Bluetooth doesn’t have you set up a connection or push any buttons.  When two or more devices enter
a range of up to 30 feet of each other, they will automatically begin to communicate without you
having to do anything.

4.  Standardized protocol
Bluetooth is standardized wireless, meaning that a high level of compatibility among devices is
guaranteed.  Bluetooth will connect devices to each other, even if they aren’t the same model.

5.  Low interference
Bluetooth devices almost always avoid interference from other wireless devices.  Bluetooth uses a
technique known as frequency hopping, and also low power wireless signals.

6.  Low energy consumption
As a result of Bluetooth using low power signals, the technology requires very little energy and will
use less battery or electrical power as a result. This is an excellent benefit for mobile devices,  as Bluetooth won’t drain the battery.

7.  Sharing voice and data
The standard for Bluetooth will allow compatible devices to share data and voice communications.
This is great for mobile phones and headsets, as Bluetooth simplifies driving and talking on your
cell phone.

8.  Instant PAN (Personal Area Network)
You can connect up to seven Bluetooth devices to each other within a range of up to 30 feet, forming
a piconet or PAN.  For a single room, you can also set up multiple piconets.

9.  Upgradeable
Upgradeable is the standard for Bluetooth.  There are newer versions of Bluetooth in the works,
which offer many new advantages and backward compatible with older versions.

10.  The technology stays.
Bluetooth technology is a world wide, universal wireless standard.  With it being as popular as
it is, you can count on it being around for years to come.  As more and more devices start to use
Bluetooth technology, more manufacturers will be eager to make their products compatible.  A chain
reaction will occur, making Bluetooth the standard  for cutting edge wireless.

The Geekorama!

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

Hi there folks! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but it’s because I am working on a brand new geek site!  It’s called The Geekorama.  So feel free to head on over and check that out.  Be sure to leave me a comment or two, since I’m just getting started over there.

As far as today’s post - I thought I would revisit our robot theme.  From The Militant Agnostic -   Christian Attorney Fears Robot Sex is the headline.  Head on over there and check it out.  I know you’ll enjoy it.

What is it about, you ask. Well, let’s just say that if you’ve never contemplated marrying your toaster, you might like to read it.

“HEY YOU GUYS!!” .. It’s The Electric Company!

Published by thegreenninja under Articles, Science Edit This

Growing up in the 70’s, my life was shaped quite a bit by PBS.  We didn’t have a gazillion channels to choose from and the only time we got to watch cartoons was on Saturday mornings.  We also didn’t have the science channel, discovery or even the history channel.  So if I was interested in anything science related I only had two options: 321 Contact and The Electric Company.

I credit those two shows, along with Monty Python’s Flying Circus for making me who I am today. (In my teen years, I learned to enjoy Nova while I was falling asleep on the couch on Sunday nights.) You can imagine how excited I was to hear that PBS is bringing back The Electric Company! Although I’m quite sure it will be nothing like it was in the good old days, I’m willing to give it a shot.

BTW, I also credit this show, as well as Sesame Street for showing me black, whites, hispanics, etc. who were all friends.  I live in the deep south.  This was a new concept for me.  ANYWAY, I’m glad it’s coming back and I hope it’s not nausiating.  Maybe I should stick to watching the old ones on youtube so that I’m not disappointed.

Remember this? I love it!

Fox News “Sexpert” doesn’t know what Fisting is.

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

Can we please talk about this Fox News “Sexpert”?

Really, I think it’s great that she uses the Obamas as a good example of a great relationship that probably has a good sex life.  She cites the fact that they are often touchy in public and look each other in the eyes when they kiss.

However, this is where her report went wrong. Way, way wrong.

In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. “
Someone please call this woman up and give her a clue.  Or, just let me see her face when she googles what in the hell it is that’s causing such a big fuss. Either way, I think I’m going to go about calling myself a sexpert now.

Top Ten Robot Countries

Published by thegreenninja under Articles, Science Edit This

Looking at this map, you can tell how far, technology wise, we are behind other countries…especially Japan!

It’s sad that we are becoming a country who favors football more than science and education.  It’s Idiocracy in action.  (If you haven’t seen the film, I recommend you watch it immediately…sad, but true.)

Also, funny that we are behind Italy in numbers of robots.  How strange.  Who knew Italians were so crazy about robots?

Ok, now I want some pizza.

Wierd.

An Opportunity for Earnings

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

As most of you know, I’ve been enjoying quite a nice little passive income from writing on the web.  My latest venture has been writing for the website Bukisa.  You can post fairly short how-to type articles and make a little extra cash.  The nice part is that you can add people to your network and make money whenever they make money as well!  So far I’ve posted about everything from “getting free stuff” to “planning a nature filled vacation”.  The nice thing, is that I can add affiliate links to my articles, as well as promote my other blogs.

Free advertisement and an easy way to make money.  What have you got to lose?

I’ve been working hard lately to build up my passive income.  I truly think it’s the wave of the future.  How nice would it be to be able to completely live off of residuals you earned on the net?! That’s the life I want.  Click here if you want to check it out.

Also, if you want to check out other places to write and make money on the net, check out my freelance writing blog, The Green Ninja.

Geek goes Blogger

Published by thegreenninja under Articles Edit This

As a certified geek girl, I do have goals.  One of those goals is to become a master blogger by the end of next year.  This means that I have baby blogs growing all around the internets.   There are blogs on geekdom, like this one, blogs on blogging, blogs on zen, blogs on hedonism, blogs on dream interpretation and my newest venture: a blog about relationships.

The Relationship Wizard lets you send in your questions for advice and also has general articles about making your relationships better.  I’ve been trying to figure out a good theme to use and I have found one that I LOVE.  You can see it by visiting the site. It was hard to find a nice, unusual theme to use that I could operate without having to spend a lot of time learning my way around it.

I would love some feedback on how this site looks so far.  Comments on the new site would be great..and if you visit me, I will visit you in return.  Also, if you’re a SU user, feel free to give me the thumbs up.  Thanks for the support!
