Crazy Transparent Fish

Published by thegreenninja at 10:35 pm under Science Edit This

What if you were scuba diving and you saw this thing coming at you!?

Pretty freaking awesome, if you ask me.

This beautiful fish is called a Pacific Barreleye fish and is found off of (surprise!) California’s central coast.

The National Geographic compares his head to the cockpit of a fighter plane and I agree.

I can look at this thing and just imagine tiny little aliens (a la MIB) driving it around behind the eyeballs!

Yay for the guy that actually caught one of these alive and double yay to the person who photographed it.  I am a huge fan of unusual fish and this one is amazing.

Also, it’s only 6 inches long!

The beady parts in front are not actually eyes, but are little noses.  The eyes are underneath those big green dome things  and they pivot like binoculars.
