Mind Control and the U.S. Army

Published by thegreenninja at 3:58 pm under Articles, Science Edit This

According to Time , the U.S. Army has just shelled out $4 million in the hopes of developing a mind control helmet.  The army hopes that this can “lead to direct mental control of military systems by thought alone.”

Wow.

While the technology is pretty cool, the implications of this project are serious.  The contract was awarded to scientists from the University of California at Irvine, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Maryland.  They are looking for a way for soldiers to communicate commands and messages purely by thought.

“Having a soldier gain the ability to communicate without any overt movement would be invaluable both in the battlefield as well as in combat casualty care,” the Army said in last year’s contract solicitation. “It would provide a revolutionary technology for silent communication and orientation that is inherently immune to external environmental sound and light.”

I’m not so sure about this.
